AOL can cause many different problems on Acrony ranging from little problems that you can hardly notice to big problems that cause you not to be able to play at all. If you are using AOL and you're having a problem playing, please email the game at info@acrony.com and we'll do our best to help you out.
Tips on how to fix problems with AOL:
1: Use Internet Explorer instead.
Please don’t use the AOL browser. Simply shut that down WITHOUT stopping your internet connection, open up Microsoft Internet Explorer directly and load the game though that. This will clear up many of the problems that you may have. Internet Explorer is available on almost all Windows computers and can be found by pressing Start > Programs > Internet Explorer.
2: AOL compression.
AOL compresses some internet files to save them money. It will cause pictures on the internet to look much worse than if you weren't using AOL. To turn off compression follow the steps below:
A: Disable the "Use Compressed Graphics" Setting
Go to My AOL > Preferences > WWW, then click the Web Graphics tab.
Uncheck the "Use Compressed Graphics" box, or set this setting to "Never Compress Graphics" depending on your version of AOL.
Click here if you have AOL 9
B: Clear Your Browser Cache
Go to My AOL > Preferences > WWW then click the General tab.
Look to the Temporary Internet Files section and click Delete Files.
This is necessary as your browser may try to load up the old compressed images.
3: Problems with opening membership screen.
Problems sometimes show themselves every place where Acrony tries to open a new browser including:
- Signing up for a membership
- Signing up for a new group
- The entire Help Section (http://www.acrony.com/help)
Please email the game if you are experiencing this problem.
4: Not being able to type into the text fields in the game.
This issue has been reported on AOL Version 7.0 but no good solution has been found to solve it. One person reported that by stopping AOL through the Task Manager he was able to completely fix it.
